Air Duct Cleaning and Inspection
Air Duct Systems Play a Crucial Role in Optimizing Indoor Air Quality, Energy Efficiency and Thermal Comfort
Atkinson A/C & Heating has been Inspecting, Cleaning and Restoring Air Ducts for over thirty years
Optimize Indoor Air Quality:
Your heating and cooling system is the lungs of your home. The system takes air in and breathes air out. Normal occupancy of a home or building over time accumulates contaminants from dander, cooking fumes, tobacco and/or fireplace smoke, pets and chemicals. Some occupants such as allergy and asthma sufferers, as well as young children and the elderly tend to be more sensitive to these contaminants than others. In addition. the HVAC system could be harboring contaminants that may increase health problems for people with respiratory conditions, environmental allergies and certain autoimmune disorders.
Optimize Energy Efficiency:
Protect your investment. A thorough cleaning of your heating and cooling components improves the efficiency of your system. As a result, less energy is used leading to improved cost-effectiveness as the customer experiences a lowering in their energy and maintenance costs.
Optimize Thermal Comfort and Extend the Life Cycle of Your HVAC System:
When an HVAC system is clean, it doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain the temperature you desire. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 25 to 40 percent of the energy used for heating or cooling a home is wasted. Contaminants in the heating and cooling system that accumulate during normal use cause it to work harder and shorten the life of your system.
Troubleshooting
We recommend having the air ducts inspected and cleaned in your home or office if any of these conditions are present:
-
Excessive dust settles on surfaces or visible dust floating in the air persists after changing your air conditioning filters
-
Inspection of the air ducts or other components of your heating and cooling system reveals visible mold growth
-
Occupant suffers from allergies or any respiratory illness
-
Air ducts contain excessive pet hair or are infested with vermin, e.g. (rodents or insects)
-
Inspection of the air ducts reveals excessive amounts of dust and debris
-
Occupants experience headaches, nasal congestion or other sinus problems after or during sleep
-
Homeowner receives unusually high electrical bills and observes rooms that are difficult to heat or cool
Atkinson A/C & Heating Pre-Inspection and Cleaning Procedures
Atkinson A/C & Heating performs a thorough air duct inspection and cleaning of your forced air system. Prior to cleaning we assure that there are no asbestos-containing materials in the heating and cooling system as they should not be disturbed or removed except by specially trained and equipped contractors. Many sections of your heating and cooling system may not be accessible upon the homeowner’s preliminary visible inspection yet may contain significant dust, mold or debris. Therefore, we open all access ports and doors to allow the entire system to be inspected and cleaned. Our cleaning regime includes the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers, heating and cooling coils, condensate drip pans, fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit housing. In addition, to protect our customer’s home we use vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of the home. Upon completion of the job, we are careful to properly seal all access ports and doors.
No Additional Work will be Performed without the Customers Prior Approval
We will repair small tears and holes in the air duct observed during the cleaning process. However, in certain circumstances as listed below, the technician may need to recommend replacement of a section of the ducting system. These repairs would be above and beyond the scope of services included in a routine air duct cleaning. In this situation, we would inform the customer of the additional repairs needed and provide a price quote. No additional work will be performed without the customers prior approval.
Conditions Requiring Air Duct Restoration
Leaky, torn and/or disconnected ducting
Unrepairable kinks in flexible ductwork that restrict airflow
Below-surface mold resulting from water damage
Wet or moldy “insulated” air ducts (they cannot be effectively cleaned and should be removed and replaced)
